The Lone Daddy
Nate and Louise Johnson have been serving military youth with Malachi Ministries for over seven years in Germany and Japan. As I was reading their recent prayer letter, one paragraph jumped off the page for me as another insight into miliatry ministry. Nate is The Lone Daddy:
In order to connect with my daughter, I decided to help with AWANA on base. I am the only dad helping out. I have this ministry as a man to both these little boys and girls to affirm and love them since so many of their dads simply cannot be there do to life at sea or other life circumstances. I have become “default dad.” I get a whole lot of “watch this!” or “wanna see what I can do!?” Often, they are simply dying to get the praise and adoration of a man who can affirm their budding strength or beauty.
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. James 1:27, NLT.
