Cadence Partners with Chaplains for Chaplains

We who serve with Cadence strive to honor military chaplains and the ministry they have to the rest of the military. When my wife and I directed the Schweinfurt Hospitality House, chaplains and their wives became some of our greatest friends, team mates, and prayer partners. I have respect and thankfulness for chaplains and their ministries.
I just received an emailed article about the Chaplain Captain Career Course at Ft. Jackson’s Army Chaplain Center and School, where a recent class of chaplains fresh from the battle in Iraq were able to process some of their own post-traumatic stress. It’s amazing how often those in ministry caring for the needs of others need others to care for them at the end of the day.
Part of their training included a retreat at a Cadence’s Victory Ranch. Here’s an exerpt from the article:
…Providentially, the training already scheduled for the next two days was carefully crafted to deal with Combat Crisis Counseling. On Wednesday, 06 FEB 08, after two full days of training on dealing with traumatic events in our own lives, we took the students to our local hospitality house sponsored by Cadence International — Victory Ranch. We allowed time for personal reflection, group therapy, and spiritual healing to take place. This new emphasis on spiritual formation and resiliency proved to be both timely and effective.
While at Victory Ranch, CH GREEN was still trying to cope with the horrors of war and all the ways combat ministry affected his life. For him, things were beginning to make sense, but God was still silent. For months, he had demanded answers from god, but no answers came. At Victory Ranch however, the Lord began to move….
